About Us: Redspher is a dynamic team in the transportation industry, committed to leveraging technology to drive efficiency and innovation. We are looking for a passionate and driven Junior DevOps Engineer to join our small but impactful team of 3 engineers. This role offers a unique opportunity to grow your skills, contribute to critical infrastructure projects, and play a key part in our journey to the cloud.
The Role: As a Junior DevOps Engineer, you will work closely with our experienced team to maintain and evolve our infrastructure. You will be involved in hands-on tasks related to Linux administration, cloud migration, automation, and database management. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with approximately 2 years of experience who is eager to learn, take initiative, and contribute to a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities: This role involves assisting in the administration and maintenance of Linux-based systems, ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability. The Junior DevOps Engineer will support the migration of on-premise MySQL databases and Linux machines to AWS cloud environments. A key part of the role is contributing to the development and maintenance of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, and developing and maintaining automation scripts using Python and Bash to streamline operational tasks and improve system efficiency. The engineer will also participate in the monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolution of infrastructure and application issues, and collaborate with the engineering team to implement, maintain, and write CI/CD pipelines (e.g., using Travis CI). Additionally, responsibilities include assisting with database administration tasks, such as backups, performance tuning, and user management for MySQL, and documenting infrastructure processes, configurations, and best practices.
Required Skills and Qualifications: Candidates should have approximately 2 years of experience in a DevOps, System Administration, or similar role, coupled with a solid understanding of Linux operating systems and command-line tools. Basic networking notions, including TCP/IP, DNS, and HTTP/S, are essential. Familiarity with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, encompassing services like EC2, S3, VPC, and RDS, is required. Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, specifically Terraform, and proficiency in scripting languages, particularly Python and Bash, are also necessary. Basic knowledge of database administration, especially MySQL, strong problem-solving skills, and a proactive attitude are important. Excellent communication skills in English are mandatory, along with the ability to work effectively in a small, collaborative team environment.
Bonus Points: Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible, proficiency in French, and familiarity with CI/CD concepts and tools such as Travis CI, Jenkins, or GitLab CI are considered advantageous.
What We Offer: We offer the opportunity to work on challenging and impactful projects within a collaborative and supportive team environment. This role provides mentorship and growth opportunities, exposure to modern DevOps practices and cloud technologies, and a competitive salary and benefits package.
